This collection of Mix&Match worksheets is highly recommended for teaching/learning Mandarin Chinese. These well-deisnged worksheets can be utilized in a range of ways, at different stages of teaching and learning, to enhance students’ language acquisition. Both Pinyin and Chinese characters are provided to support students.

Suggested ways of using this collection:

  1. Presentation
Use them to present new vocabulary. Students are given the relevant worksheet to match the new words up as the teacher introduce each word. Or to have students complete the worksheets independently after introducing new vocabulary to help students develop and improve their ability to identify and recognize new Chinese characters.
  2. Assessment
Use them to evaluate students’ learning process in class as a formative or diagnostic assessment tool in order to make modifications as necessary.
  3. Extension Work
Print them out on an A4 paper (or even an A3 paper) and have them laminated. Separate the topics students have learned from the others. Store them separately. Advanced students can be given this Mix&Match activity in class as extension work. Set a timer. Students have to draw a card from the learned collection, match the words up as fast as they can and then draw another one, have it completed, and continue. See how many cards they get to complete within the set time frame. Students only get a point when they match all the words up correctly on a card. Keep a record and students can see their progress visually. Kids love making new records! It works best for pairs. Have students trained and they will get better at this each time!
  4. Homework
These worksheets can also be given to students as homework to help them revise and consolidate learned content.
  5. Set Work
Provide them to casual/relief teachers as set work when you need cover. This will free you up and save you a great deal of valuable time. As answer keys are provided in this collection, the casual/relief teacher doesn’t need to know any Mandarin to mark students’ work or to guide students to mark each other’s work.

Various topics are covered in this collection. 25 original worksheets (covering 20 different topics) are in included.
