This Monkey's Mayhem card game allows students to practice multiplication patterns with decimals in the classic ‘Old Maid’ game format. In addition, the cards could be used to play the classic game of “Concentration”--just remove the “Monkey Mayhem” card.
Students need to understand the concept of moving the decimal when multiplying by multiples of 10. Students also need to have experience working with exponents. For example, an equation might be 5.67 x 10. It will be obvious that some cards are not matches, but others will involve some thinking because I intentionally used the same number with a different decimal placement.The set contains a total of twenty-seven pairs of cards. Also, included is the “Monkey Mayhem” card (my version of the ‘Old Maid’) and an instruction card.
