A ready-to-use interactive reflection course for students after a racist incident, with interactive scenarios, choice-specific feedback, a staff guide and a printable reflection sheet.

A student has made a harmful choice. You need them to learn from it. Here is a structured intervention you can deliver today.
More Than Words is an adult-supported, interactive PowerPoint course that helps secondary students understand racism, the difference between intention and impact, and what genuine repair looks like. Students work through the slides at their own pace, making choices in realistic scenarios and getting thoughtful feedback on each one, with prompts that encourage reflection and discussion beyond simply choosing the correct answer.
What students explore:
• A group chat where a new pupil is mocked for his nationality and ethnic background
• What racism is, in accessible language, and how it shows up in words, behaviour, online and in systems
• “I was only joking”: intention versus impact
• A second scenario in the dining hall, about food from a pupil’s family culture
• Practical ways to respond, including seeking adult help when speaking up feels unsafe
• What meaningful repair looks like, and why the pupil affected is never pressured to accept an apology
What’s included:
• 35-slide interactive PowerPoint with clickable navigation (run in Slide Show mode)
• Two interactive scenarios with choice-specific feedback, true or false checks and a repair activity
• A hidden staff-guide slide covering purpose, delivery, group work, the pupil affected, and evidence
• Printable student reflection sheet
Timing: about 20 minutes on the slides, plus 10 to 15 minutes of reflection with a supporting adult.
Ideal for Heads of Year, pastoral leads, DSLs and behaviour teams, for one-to-one or small-group use, or as preventative education.
This course supports, and never replaces, your investigation, safeguarding response, sanctions and support for the pupil affected.
Part of the Reflect, Learn, Repair library from The Safeguarding Siamese.
