This resource progresses from practising converting between mixed numbers (also called mixed fractions or mixed numerals) and improper fractions through sets of differentiated material towards the multiplication of two mixed numbers with or without the aid of visual support, in this case the Open Array Model.

The exercises include developing and applying knowledge of cross-multiplication, finding common denominators, using the distributive property of multiplication and simplifying fractions.

Most of the sets have 2 levels, where the range of denominators (and where applicable integers) are slightly larger in the second level to provide a bit more of a challenge.
