My Healthy Happy Life Activity Journal Level Two is a fifty eight page PDF practical guide, recommended for pupils in **Year 4. **

The journal builds on pupils’ prior knowledge from Level One and continues developing their mental, emotional and physical health and wellbeing. It is full of age and curriculum appropriate activities designed to empower pupils with the knowledge of how to live a healthier, happier life. They are also a safe place for pupils to explore their thoughts and feelings and helps them understand where and how to find help and support if needed.

How to Use
The complete journal or individual pages can be printed to suit your schools need. It can be used with a whole class to help support the delivery of the health section of the RSHE curriculum or with small groups of children that require extra support developing healthier habits.

Chapter One – My Brain and Mind
This chapter pupils will discover how to keep a healthier, happier mind and brain. Developing a greater understanding of what can cause their own and others’ emotional feelings and how they can affect behaviour. Pupils learn how to recognise the depth of the emotional response and what appropriate and simple strategies they can use to help them. Along with learning that mistakes can be an opportunity to learn.

Chapter Two – My Nutrition
This chapter teaches pupils how to make healthy food choices and the importance of basic food hygiene. Pupils also look at healthy and unhealthy eating habits, energy balance and how what they eat affects their brain.

Chapter Three – My Lifestyle
Pupils will learn about healthy, lifelong habits. In Level Two pupils learn how sleep works and how to develop a healthy bedtime routine, an appreciation of being outside, and how our community can have an influence on our thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

Chapter Four – My Safety
Inside My Safety chapter, pupils will discover ways to keep them safe and help prevent ill health. Pupils learn simple selfcare including, how to recognise when they are unwell, when and how to get help, personal hygiene, keeping hydrated and staying safe in the sun.

Chapter Five – My Movement
Pupils will learn an appreciation for their bodies and how to take care of them through different types of movement. Pupils learn how a lack of movement could affect their body and their mind and who to talk to if they are worried about their own health. Pupils’ will build on their prior knowledge about fitness and look at basic ways to test their own fitness.
