This lesson is designed for the NEW AQA Physics GCSE, particularly the ‘Motion’ SoW.

For more lessons designed to meet specification points for the NEW AQA Trilogy specifications for Biology, Chemistry and Physics please see my shop: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/SWiftScience

The lesson begins with a overview on how to use distance-time graphs to work out the distance traveled by an object which is moving at constant speed, asd changing speed. The slides go through the process for each, using a step-by-step method. Using the two worked examples, students will then be asked to complete a set of questions on distance-time graphs. The mark scheme for this task is included, so students can self-assess their work once it is complete.

Next, students will be shown a video on velocity-time graphs, and they will be given a set of questions that they will need to answer whilst watching. Students will answer the questions, then check their work using the answers provided. After the video is complete, students will be given a set of questions on velocity-time graphs which they can complete in their books. Once complete, students can either self-assess or peer-assess their work.

Lastly, students will be asked to create a set of exam questions for a friend on the topic of motion graphs. Students will be asked to produce a variety of 2-mark to 4-mark questions, which they can then give to their friend to answer.

The plenary task requires students to write a WhatsApp message to summarise what they have learned in today’s lesson.
