This is a lesson for the new French GCSE in Year 10 to build on phonics work. The focus is on explaining, supporting and providing opportunities for students to create mini conversations where they agree and disagree with each other speaking 'spontaneously'.
The aim is to engage the students by building up their confidence to ‘think and speak on their feet’. There is a phonics starter using ‘Christine and the Queens’ music and a variety of different pair and group activities. The lesson builds on student’s prior knowledge of opinions and reasons. The lesson includes:
• A powerpoint of the lesson
• Worksheets to complement the powerpoint
• Peer and self-assessment activities
• Strategies for students to help improve their ‘thinking’ and 'speaking' on the spot
