No Pens Day lessons are a fantastic way to spice things up a little in the classroom for every learner - with minimum additional resources needed. These lessons are also a lovely and inclusive way to do something a little differently in order to appeal to neurodivergent learners who struggle with the formality of normal day-to-day schooling.

This lesson focuses on sorting items, pictograms and interpreting and analysing simple data. Students are taught about pictograms before testing their understanding by collecting data and building their own in groups. Children will reflect on the data they are gathering as they go - all without lifting a pen!

This pack contains:

  • Detailed Maths lesson plan with questioning
  • Teaching Input Powerpoint (4 slides)
  • 2 x themes of small cut-out pictures for pictogram building (10 pages)
  • Larger labels for movement-based input

Additional resources needed:

  • 2 x sorting hoops per small group
  • A collection of objects for sorting per small group
  • Scissors

*** ALSO AVAILABLE at a more challenging level for LKS2 and UKS2 ***
