Completed NPQSL SAT Example – 45/50
A completed and assessed NPQSL SAT example, awarded 45/50 (Pass) and graded against the NPQSL assessment criteria.
The SAT focuses on improving behaviour, bullying and learner safety outside the classroom, with particular emphasis on social times, staff consistency, safeguarding, behaviour data and parental communication.
The submission demonstrates how a whole-school leadership issue can be identified, analysed and addressed through an evidence-informed improvement strategy. It includes:
Identifying key problems affecting learners, staff and the wider school
Proposing and evaluating solutions to address the identified issues
Providing an evidence-informed rationale for the proposed changes
Selecting and implementing a priority strategy
Applying an Explore → Prepare → Deliver → Sustain implementation approach
Considering stakeholder engagement, barriers to implementation and staff buy-in
Establishing monitoring and evaluation measures to assess impact and sustain improvement
Importantly, this isn’t simply an unmarked example. The assessment has been graded and awarded 45/50, with marks provided across the key assessment areas:
Identifying problems – 9/10
Identifying solutions – 9/10
Rationale – 9/10
Implementation – 9/10
This makes it a particularly useful resource for NPQSL participants who want to see what a high-scoring final assessment can look like in practice.
Please note: NPQSL SAT briefs and assessment focuses vary between cohorts. This resource should therefore be used for guidance, structure and inspiration, rather than copied or treated as a model answer for a different brief.
