This is the third lesson in a series of lessons designed for the Applied Science BTEC - although it can easily be used as a standalone lesson to help explain mp and bp trends across periods and down groups.

The lesson is in the style of an interactive lecture where I deliver it with lots of student discussion and questioning, ending with an exam style question plenary using knowledge gained during the lesson.

Homework is given at the end to stretch and challenge the students understanding - assuming they have learned about electronic structure and interaction between the nuclear charge and the valence electrons.
