Phonemic Awareness - Segmenting - Tapping Cards - 2 to 4 phonemes

Welcome to the Tapping Cards.

This resource has been designed to support the development of a child’s oral phonemic awareness, with a specific focus on segmenting sounds in words.

The set includes a carefully sequenced progression of cards:

2 sounds
3 sounds
4 sounds (including end blends)
4 sounds (including beginning blends)

Children can work through the cards progressively, moving on to more complex words as they develop confidence and accuracy in segmenting phonemes.

How to Use

Break the word into individual sounds. For example:

cat→ /c-a-t/
sheep → /sh-ee-p/

As each sound is identified, the child taps one dot for each phoneme they hear, matching one tap to one sound.
