An exciting and engaging photography project inspired by Scottish photographer David Gilliver, famous for his imaginative miniature scenes and “Little People” photography.

In this project, pupils will explore Gilliver’s work, learn about key photography techniques, and discover how everyday objects can be transformed into extraordinary miniature worlds. Through close reading, artist research, analysis activities, and practical photography tasks, students will develop their understanding of composition, scale, focus, lighting, texture, and storytelling.

Students will then apply their learning by creating and photographing their own miniature scenes using simple classroom materials and everyday objects.

Pupils will learn:

✔ Who David Gilliver is and why he is a significant contemporary photographer
✔ How photographers use scale, composition, focus, lighting and storytelling to create successful images
✔ How miniature figures and everyday objects can be transformed into imaginative scene.
✔ How to plan, create and photograph their own miniature world
