Fun Key Stage 2 place value puzzles challenges, great for early finishers activities, starter tasks, revision and homework, originally designed for Year 4, 5 and 6 (Y4, Y5 and Y6) Maths / Numeracy. There are 2 fun crossnumber puzzles for revision of numbers up to 5 digits / ten thousands, 2 puzzles for numbers up to 6 digits / one hundred thousands, and 2 puzzles for numbers up to 7 digits / millions. For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc). These more challenging place value mental maths puzzles use a mixture of words and digits for the given calculations, with pupils entering digits in the grid as before. This PDF file contains the 6 puzzles and full solutions. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 5, 6 and 7.

These Numeracy puzzles are an engaging alternative to standard worksheets and should help pupils consolidate their understanding of place value in a fun way. This pack also provides good differentiation and revision opportunities and could be used across different age groups / classes.

You can get these puzzles alongside my other Place Value activities and games (large differentiated sets of self-check Place Value trails for 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers and also decimals Place Value games) in this good value bundle: KS2 Place Value Activities Bundle

Place Value and Rounding Worksheets

Fun KS2 number sense maths puzzles worksheets - these fun printable independent activities are great for revision, early finishers challenges, starter tasks, home work and home learning, especially in the first few weeks at the start of the year. This place value and rounding fun puzzles worksheets BUNDLE was originally designed for Year 4, 5 and 6 Maths / Numeracy. Includes numbers up to 5, 6 and 7 digits and rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, whole number, 1 decimal place, two decimal places and nearest pound or dollar. Engaging alternative to standard worksheets; ideal for **differentation**. **13 puzzles**, full answer keys, **PDF** format. The place value puzzles are **crossnumber puzzles**: * 2 for numbers up to ten thousands * 2 for numbers up to hundred thousands * 2 for numbers up to millions * Differentiation: For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc) * Works in a similar way to a crossword puzzles but with numbers entered into the grid   The rounding puzzles are **hidden word puzzles**: * 1 for rounding to the nearest ten * 1 for rounding to the nearest hundred * 1 for rounding to the nearest thousand * 1 for rounding to the nearest whole number * 1 for rounding to the nearest one decimal place * 1 for rounding to the nearest two decimal places * 1 for rounding money to the nearest pound (dollar version also included)   More about hidden word puzzles: Similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the rounding work. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a number to be rounded and a letter. Once students have rounded all the numbers, they cross out any boxes containing numbers that round to certain specified target numbers. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. If the word is more simple, the letters are in random order for students to reassemble. If it is a trickier word (such as a famous mathematician), the letters are already placed in the correct order in the grid. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word.   ***For previews and more information, please see the 2 individual resource pages.*** You can get these puzzles alongside my other Place Value activities and games (large differentiated sets of self-check Place Value trails for 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers and also decimals Place Value games) in this good value bundle: **[KS2 Place Value Activities Bundle](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/place-value-trails-5-6-and-7-digit-numbers-11545233)**

Place Value Activities KS2

KS2 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths BUNDLE of printable games and puzzles worksheets for place value. Build number sense with fun activities. The dice games features 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions) and decimals to 1, 2 and 3 places (tenths, hundredths, thousandths). The puzzles feature 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers. Great for starters, early finisher tasks, extension challenges and homework. All in **PDF** format. Includes: * 17 fun, challenging and strategic games * 7 hidden word puzzles * Great for **differentiation** within the same class or for different year groups   **PLACE VALUE GAMES:** * Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens * Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups. * There is a mixture of *Make the Biggest Number*, *Make the Smallest Number* and *Greater or Less Than* games   Every turn, **players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty!** Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.   If you don't have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Alternatively: * Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some * Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file) * Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)   Instructions are printed on the boards.   **PLACE VALUE CROSS NUMBER PUZZLES:** * 2 for numbers up to ten thousands * 2 for numbers up to hundred thousands * 2 for numbers up to millions * Differentiation: For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc) * Works in a similar way to a crossword puzzles but with numbers entered into the grid   Thank you very much for supporting my store.   ***YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE...*** **[Multiplication and Division Activities BUNDLE](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks2-multiplication-division-bundle-11673875) [Maths Puzzles Worksheets HUGE BUNDLE](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks2-maths-activities-11809251) [Place Value CrossNumber Puzzles](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/place-value-puzzles-worksheets-11691673) [Decimal Activities KS2 BUNDLE](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/decimal-numbers-activities-ks2-12089804) [Area and Perimeter Activities BUNDLE](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/area-and-perimeter-game-pack-11551456)**   **Explore more at [FullShelf Resources](https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/FullShelf)**
