This set of worksheets is designed to support pupils in reading and writing whole numbers up to seven digits, in line with the aims of the UK Maths curriculum in Year 4.
Pupils practise converting numbers between numerals (standard form), words, and (where relevant) expanded form, reinforcing the understanding of place value up to one million.
There are 6 sets of (almost) unlimited worksheets. The first 5 sets:
- Focus on one of the following: 3, 4, 5 , 6, or 7-digit numbers
- Each has a mix of numbers in word and standard format where students practice rewriting a number in the other format.
- For the word format questions, answers are provided in standard AND expanded format.
The 6th set is a ‘challenge’ where students are given clues to a given number and you can ask them to write the answer in word or standard format or both.
This differentiation will allow you to set the work according to the progress of your students and provide them with the right level of work at any given time.
Why (almost) Unlimited Worksheets ?
At the click of a button located at the bottom of the worksheet all numbers change, so you can create as many different worksheets for classwork, homework, review, preparing for assessments, or just simply practice at any time to keep the skill alive throughout the whole year.
You could also use any of the worksheets to explain the topic to your class (projected onto a whiteboard) as you will have almost unlimited examples to show them and will be different from the actual worksheets you give your students.
