In ten minutes a week you can monitor RWI for your whole class.
Simply print of the six full sized sheets/mats (in a colour if prefered) and five copies of the teacher page (page 7).
At the start of guided reading give out a mat to a small group of children.
Ask a child to read a column or row whilst the rest of the group track and step in to help when invited if needed.
On your teacher page write out the names of the pupils and as
a child says the word/sound you can tick this off. As the professional you may wish to do repeated checks before signing off certain sounds.
I did this with 6 children a day at the start of reading sessions and children got into the routine of looking listening supporting and reading in turn.
It literally takes 2 minutes to administer each day.
At the end of the week you should have five teacher pages to compare and use to inform your planning, homework and or interventions.
This worked for me for many years and as such I could show progress snapshots to any SLT who came looking for whole class or specific pupil information.
