Reception Baseline Assessment

Fun and practical Reception baseline assessment to identify children’s starting points, track progress and compare development across the year.

This interactive assessment is designed to make assessing your new Reception class fun, practical and engaging. The activities feel more like games and challenges than a formal test, helping children demonstrate what they can do while keeping them busy and interested.

The resources can be printed and used 1:1, in small groups or during continuous provision.

NURSERY TO RECEPTION

Use the assessment to identify children’s starting points when they enter Reception. It provides opportunities to see which skills children have developed during Nursery and which areas may need further support or development.

TRACK PROGRESS

Complete the assessment at the beginning of Reception and revisit the activities later in the year. This allows you to compare children’s development, identify progress and celebrate how far they have come.
