A 3-page worksheet / activity sequence explaining how to use the pronouns en and y in set phrases for the topic of free time / hobbies / les loisirs / le temps libre. Ideal for helping pupils to integrate these into their writing to score higher marks for complexity / use of ‘complex structures’.

The principles for how en and y work are briefly explained, but the pronouns are mostly practised in the context of useful phrases on the topic, including with negatives and time phrases.
There is also a stage combining them with the present tense with depuis to enhance the complexity of students’ sentences.

Activities include a brief grammar explanation to read, a matching task, a teacher-led listening, multiple-choice, translations and a writing task.

All answers included.

Suitable for KS4 French or very able KS3 pupils as extension work.

See below a similar resource for using ‘en’ in the topic of school, but this time the practice is purely translations: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12967353
