This resource is designed to help students prepare for the Edexcel GCSE French Higher Tier speaking exam, specifically Task 1: Read Aloud (2024 specification).
It supports the development of reading fluency and confidence in reading aloud in a meaningful context, while familiarising students with the exam format.
Based on the official Edexcel sample assessment materials, the resource includes 24 read-aloud tasks, covering all six thematic contexts of the new specification.
Each task features a clearly stated context and a level-appropriate, exam-style French text that simulates the “Read Aloud” section of the speaking exam. This is followed by two exam-style speaking questions and space for student notes.
Vocabulary and grammar used in the texts have been carefully checked against the official Edexcel vocabulary and grammar list to ensure full alignment.
This resource is suitable for use in lessons (teacher-led, pair work or independent practice), as homework, revision, exam preparation or cover work. It can also be used for translation practice.
