Christmas Escape Room – French GCSE

A festive escape room for French GCSE classes (and international equivalents), designed to immerse students in language through story, sound and discovery. A naughty elf has locked Santa’s house and, to save Christmas, students must unlock each room by solving language tasks linked to traditions, grammar and culture; learning almost without noticing they’re doing so.

This experience uses exploration and wonder to deliver a full French lesson: vocabulary, grammar, reading and culture. A built-in soundscape, hidden clues and interactive elements guide students forward, creating a calm and immersive progression through the game.

What this escape room includes

• A living room of family traditions and present tense recall
• A kitchen where near future and perfect tense meet festive food
• A mailroom filled with francophone postcards and cultural comparisons
• A workshop where the magnifying glass becomes the key to progress
• Approx. 1 hour core pathway, suitable for mixed-ability GCSE groups
• Explorer Mode extension for high-achieving students and early-finishers
  (conditional forms, irregular plurals, further francophone culture, with a few surprises to uncover)

Timing guidance
Most classes will complete the main escape room in around 60 minutes.
High-ability or fast-moving groups may catch the elf in ~40 minutes and then take a further ~20 minutes to complete the extension.

Suitable for AQA, Edexcel, WJEC and international curricula.
