This is a full 1 hour KS3 lesson that introduces oil / fossil fuels and energy consumption in the UK. The lesson is the first lesson of a unit on natural resources and energy, though it could easily be adapted to other themes.

Learning Outcome 1 – ‘I understand non-renewable energy sources, their impacts, how we use energy in the UK and how this may change in the future.’

This lesson covers the following themes:

- Surprising uses of oil
- How competition leads to conflict including a video on the current South China Sea escalation
- Peak oil
- How fossil fuels are formed
- Changing energy consumption in the UK

Ease of use is the aim, so the lesson includes a compact presentation with full instructions and guidance in the notes section below each slide, it also includes labelled, organised, differentiated handouts with printing instructions and is of course, proof read.
