RWI Handwriting Progression Practice Bundle

A progressive handwriting resource bundle designed to support children in developing accurate RWI letter formation, positioning, and sizing for both lower-case and capital letters. The bundle provides a structured approach to handwriting development through three carefully sequenced practice sheets that build children’s confidence, control, and fluency over time.

The bundle includes:

Sheet 1 – 1a: Early Formation
A handwriting practice sheet focused on early letter formation, with ample space for children to develop correct letter shapes and formation patterns. Includes a dedicated “Speed Write” section to encourage fluency and automaticity.
Sheet 2 – 1a: Relative Position
A progressive practice sheet using a single-line format to support children in understanding correct letter positioning and orientation on the line. Includes a “Speed Write” section for continued handwriting fluency practice.
Sheet 3 – 1b: Relative Size
A handwriting sheet featuring visual “sun, boat and sea” guides to help children develop an understanding of relative letter size and placement. Includes a “Speed Write” section to support confidence, consistency, and writing stamina.
Lower-case and capital letter formation sheets
Reusable handwriting sheets that can be laminated for children to practise letter formation independently using whiteboard pens within continuous provision and adult-led activities.

This resource is ideal for EYFS and KS1 practitioners following Read Write Inc. and supports the progressive development of handwriting skills through clear structure, repetition, and purposeful practice both within focused teaching sessions and continuous provision.
