RWInc. Fresh Start SS1.1 Worksheet

I have created worksheets to support the teaching of the RWInc. Fresh Start Program.

These have space for children to practice red and challenge words from the associated module and a space to reflect on their learning. The first sheet has the patter written in a handwriting font for them to write over the top if they find copying very hard, the second sheet has blank spaces for them to write it themselves if you feel it is more appropriate for your pupils.

Associated Module: 1 The Thing from the Black Planet.

The sessions I teach are an hour, once a week, so I have had to adapt how I deliver it - I teach one set from the speed sounds and do half a module each week.

I also have a homework sheet which has the picture cards of the sounds and prompt pictures, plus 3 words for each of the associated sounds to practice segmenting. I also have links to Youtube videos that I have made that are a little more grown up for KS3. These are a maximum of 2 minutes long. I ask the pupils to only watch one video a day, so that they get the regular input. Video 1: Learn the sounds and prompt phrases; 2: Segmenting words; 3: Speed Sounds.

Each video starts with a recap of previous sounds.

I have also made Microsoft Forms for these, which I can share if anyone wants to see how I’ve developed it.
