Explore the features, objects and decoration found within Islamic sacred spaces with this beautifully designed classroom display resource.
Part of the Sacred Spaces collection, this pack introduces pupils to key features they may see or encounter in and around a mosque, explaining their purpose and significance within Islamic worship. Each card combines a clear illustration with accessible explanatory text, making the resource ideal for classroom displays, RE teaching, revision areas and learning environments.
The pack includes a large Sacred Spaces: Islam - Mosque centrepiece alongside 12 matching information cards covering the Mihrab, Qibla Wall, Minbar, Qur’an, Qur’an Stand, Prayer Mats, Wudu Area, Shoe Area, Arabic Calligraphy, Geometric Patterns, Minaret and Dome.
Pupils can explore how the design of a mosque supports Muslim worship, from facing the qibla during salah and the use of the mihrab and minbar, to preparation for prayer through wudu. The resource also introduces architectural and decorative features such as minarets, domes, Arabic calligraphy and geometric patterns.
The cards acknowledge that mosques around the world vary in their architecture and design, helping pupils understand that features such as domes, minarets and dedicated wudu facilities may be found in many mosques but are not universal.
Designed with a consistent, museum-inspired aesthetic, the cards can be arranged around the central Mosque display to suit your available space. Try connecting the cards to the centrepiece using coloured string or ribbon to create an eye-catching Sacred Spaces feature wall.
Ideal for KS2, KS3 and KS4 Religious Education, Islam units, places of worship topics, mosque visit preparation and follow-up, classroom and corridor displays, revision areas and whole-school RE displays.
This listing contains the Islam - Mosque set only. Other religions in the Sacred Spaces collection are available separately, allowing you to choose the faith traditions relevant to your curriculum. A complete Sacred Spaces bundle will also be available.
