This activity involves painting, pastel work or other art media to complete the background and then using the images to add to the background or adding own. Differentiated to allow those who need more support to use the ready drawn images, which could also be cut up beforehand and those who are more creative to develop own ideas and techniques.
I devised this writing assessment system for two reasons - to allow pre-level 1 writing to be assessed at KS1 without recourse to P levels or FSP points (neither of which marry up accurately with levels 1 and above), and to show a clear progression in each aspect of writing as a child moves from sub-level to sub-level.
I created this maths assessment tool to both help teachers to see how each aspect of maths develops as a child progresses through the sub-levels and as a specific assessment tool. Criteria can be ticked and dated as they are met, providing a clear visual picture of where a child is at any one point, and showing the gaps that need filling.
It is based heavily on the criteria devised by the West Sussex Maths Group (2006) (based on the NC statements of attainment), as well as Southwark's maths sub-level guidance.
