Scaffolded Python work booklet for lower-ability, SEND and KS3/GCSE students: 8 lessons, worked examples, word banks, fill the gaps and full answers.
A 36-page booklet that helps students who find programming hard to follow along in lessons, one small step at a time. Every lesson uses the same four colour-coded pages, so students always know what comes next.
8 lessons
- Variables and Data Types
- Input and Output
- Selection (if)
- Loops
- Lists
- Strings
- Functions
- Checking Input (validation)
Every lesson has four pages
- Learn: “Today I will…” goals, key words in plain English, and a “Watch me” worked example with its output and numbered notes
- Practise: fill the gaps from a word bank, choose the answer (tick one box), and finish the code by filling in just the missing word or symbol
- Apply: put the lines of code in order, then “Have a go!” with a tick-box checklist of steps and a hint
- Review: spot the mistake, finish a sentence to explain the idea, match the key words, and a “How did I do?” traffic light
Designed for students who need extra support
- Short sentences, simple words and larger text
- Every task builds on the worked example above it, and every hint points back to it
- Word banks and sentence starters support literacy
- “Spot the mistake” tasks cover the errors beginners really make, such as missing colons, missing quotes and an index one too high
- No computer needed, but students can type their code into Python to test it
- Key-word glossary and a “What can I do now?” checklist at the back
- The cover just says “Work Booklet”, so students are not labelled
What’s included
- Student booklet (editable PowerPoint, A4, 36 pages: prints as a folded booklet)
- Student booklet (PDF)
- Teacher answer booklet with every answer in red
Every code example and answer has been run in Python to check it works. Suitable for KS3, or as support for AQA and OCR GCSE programming.
