SEN: Why did Henry VIII break with Rome?

This great resource has been designed as a follow on lesson to my resource on what problems faced Henry VIII in 1535, but also works as a stand alone lesson. It is primarily aimed at middle and lower ability students and covers the topic in one simple lesson, which could be extended to two i you wish to follow the thinking skills review activity up with an extended piece of writing.

The lesson begins with either a snowballing or a buzz and go starter, this is followed up by a series of information slides on the break with Rome and Henry’s relationship problems. This is consolidated with a ‘who’s Who Activity’ and a thinking skills review triangle where students have to select the five most important reasons why Henry broke from Rome from a short list of statements.
