We are used to thinking of murder as the ultimate crime. However, victims of sex crimes believe their lives are so ruined by these crimes that they think they are worse than murder. Some victims never improve despite years of intensive psychotherapy. Worldwide there are varying views on sex crimes. This presentation focuses primarily on a sex crime’s status in America. However, when a sex crime is notorious elsewhere, it will be mentioned.

In modern times there has been an expansion of sex crimes. These crimes occurred in earlier times but they were not the multi billion dollar industries that they are today. This is especially true of the crimes of Sexual Trafficking and Sexual Tourism.

Some sex crimes are also being struck down or reinvented. In 2003, sodomy became legal throughout the United States. Pimps are being replaced by the internet as prostitutes find their clients online. Sex Offender Registers online help potential victims protect themselves and their children from sexual predators.
