Sound Skills Resource Pack

This is intended to be used with learners who are learning the following:

• To distinguish between short vowel sounds (auditory discrimination/vowel sound awareness)
• To encode regular CVC words
• To encode regular short vowel words with initial and end blends

CONTENTS
The pack consists of the following

• Word list sheets, which provide suggested words for teachers to use at each level
• Learner Sound Skills Sheets
• Learner Record Sheet

DIFFERENTIATION
Teachers can select vowel sound combinations and also whether to use CVC words or include initial and/or end blends. The Resource Pack can be used as a structured course, which starts with two relatively easily distinguished vowel sounds and works up to more difficult combinations and finally 5 vowel sounds together. Alternatively, a teacher can choose to select particular vowel sound combinations according to the learner’s needs.

This is suitable as a 1:1 activity or group/class work.
