Stained Glass Graffiti Designs

To design a graffiti stained-glass window with a message included within the window design.

The intentions of this activity is to allow students to consider the basic structure and history behind stained glass window designs, for they were designed to display scenes from biblical stories so that those who could’nt read would be able to understand what these stories were about.

Its important to include literature within student learning and so by including the concept of graffiti, it will allow students to incorporate this factor into this activity. However, graffiti is not always considered a form of art like stained glass windows are. It is debated whether it is vandalism or art - therefore opens up discussion in the classroom

Merging both stained glass and graffiti allows students to think about the purpose of each, and how they could use both design approaches to create the following:

"To create a stained glass design with a message that means something to you".

An example: “Thank you NHS” - from Lockdown
