Storm Boy, by Colin Thiele, is a rich source of vocabulary and easily adapted to games to give all students the benefits of reading skill development, regardless of ability. This product is a worksheet/game and I call it that because it is a worksheet first - players have to read the words - but it is also a game and that’s what motivates and provides high engagement levels.
This is a game for two players that needs one six-sided die. The throw of the die means the game is never the same twice. You could play with a whole class if you have enough dice. The winner is the first player to read four words and claim those spaces in a vertical stack. Their opponent can block if they throw the right number on the die. You can extend the game after one stack if there are more stacks to win.
