The notes are primarily teacher-led and provides contextual analysis insights behind Pride Magazine’s coverlines to answer Audience, Industry, Representation and Media Language questions. These notes begin to answer many of the reasons why Pride was created and still exists.
Contexts explored include Feminism, intersectionality, the Blaxploitation film genre, hair and beauty ideals/standards and Naomie Harris as ‘star’ and ‘celebrity’.
Learning Objectives include the understanding of the social, historical, political and economic environments which produces a publication such as Pride. There is a focus on British aspects of context rather than African American.
