This resource is aimed at young people who sometimes experience emotional difficulties. The resource explains in simple teenager friendly terms what is happening in their brain when they experience uncontrolled emotions and behaviour that is difficult for others to understand.

The guide explains their experience using the function of parts of the brain labelled as the amygdala alarm, hipocampus librarian and prefrontal cortex coach. The guide gives tips on how to switch the coach back on after times when the alarm has taken over and the young person has experienced overload, encourages them to create a reset plan and to identify their own triggers.
