Cheaper and more affordable than a posh cocktail or craft ale on a night out (because we all know how much of our own money we spend on our class already!) :)

‘Telling the Time’ is one of a series of outstanding assemblies created for primary school children, which includes full script songs and prayers with a part for every child. This assembly is ready to go! Graded ‘Outstanding’ by the Headteacher and receiving standing ovations from parents, the audience loved watching this theatrical ‘rock around the clock’ as much as the children enjoyed learning and performing it.

This is a 30 minute assembly, with enough parts for a class of 35, however this can be shortened depending on how much of the songs you wish to use. Starting with an ‘always late’ white rabbit in Wonderland and moving through to real-world practical examples of telling the time in the children’s lives, this pacey piece consolidates the class’s learning and fulfils maths objectives.

The history of the clock, popular children’s stories, poetry, songs through the eras and optional prayer means that this assembly spans the wider curriculum. The performance is set to a soundtrack of much-loved songs from the 50’s hit ‘Rock Around The Clock’ through to tunes from popular family films, to get the audience up on their feet.

Take your primary class through a cross-curricular whistle-stop tour of the clock!

Plans created by an Ofsted Good/Outstanding primary school teacher – History and Drama co-ordinator – with over ten years of experience. These outstanding assemblies have consistently engaged and excited all 30 performers in class… and have even got the adults in the audience up on their feet! I hope you find this assembly an excellent ‘time-saver’.

An amazing assembly! My year 1 class performed it at the end of the year and the parents loved it. I can't write assemblies myself so this was ideal as it was all done for me and very easy to follow and put together. The children loved performing it and it was a great end to the school year. Thanks for sharing MissAndrews, definitely a real 'time-saver'!
