This resource is an extract of 7 episodes of the textbook “Un Británico en San Sebastián” which deal directly with the subjunctive mood in Spanish. The podcasts for the 7 episodes can be accessed at Spotify https://open.spotify.com/episode/1XfZNoSzchw7eci2CrsoQR?si=zQaZvs-9Q6a0-KV9sbfuSQ The textbook “Un Británico en San Sebastián”, available at TES and also in the printed form at Amazon at https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FRX9Q3B2
The textbook is a comprehensive practical textbook for students learning Spanish as a Foreign Language at intermediate level/A level (B1 and B2). This textbook will help students to improve their oral and written Spanish as well as to improve their grammar and their cultural awareness of Spain. The text uses humour and a fresh engaging story, written in the first person from the point of view of a 69-year-old retired man called George.
This practical textbook includes a podcast with 20 episodes of approximately 450 words each available for free at Spotify. Listening to podcasts is a great way to improve your Spanish language skills and to improve your pronunciation. You can also practice repeating what you hear, which will help you sound more natural when speaking Spanish yourself.
Each of the 20 episodes is accompanied by a glossary to enable students to understand the text and to facilitate the learning of an extended vocabulary. Additionally, each episode includes at least one main useful grammar point: a table with a list of all the grammar points used can be found on page 6.
Each episode includes follow up exercises that encourage students to practise the four language skills of reading, speaking, listening and writing. The textbook and the accompanying podcast can be used in different ways: as a main textbook in Spanish lessons, as a self-study guide or as a revision guide for A level Spanish or for the Spanish certificates from Instituto Cervantes, such as the “Diplomas de español” at B1 or B2 levels.
