This is a great activity to aid students in thinking like paleobiologists.

It involves investigating human history through looking at where Australopithecus sediba fits into the human family tree. Mark Scheme included.

The task has two parts

Part A:
Investigating and comparing two biomes in terms of organism adaptations

Part B:
Constructing a Timeline of hominin history
Investigating and designing a poster explaining the importance of Australopithecus sediba in human evolution (Online article resources included)

Originally designed for a South African Grade 12 class but ca be used with any secondary phase, with the right assistance and scaffolding.
