Thinking Hard Cards - Extension and Plenary Tasks

Do you have student’s who finish early and need extension tasks? In need of ideas for plenaries? Do you have passive learners who you need to support to think hard? Well, these “Thinking Hard” cards will solve those problems!

This set of A6 cards can be printed, laminated and sit on your desk, ready to hand out to students who are finished and need a new task or a different challenge. Each card features a short task or activity that will encourage students to think deeper about the content following “thinking hard” principles to aid long term knowledge and metacognition.

There are 24 tasks in total at 3 types of demand indicated by the colour of card:
Blue - Reducing or Transforming information to help knowledge and understanding
Light Blue - Sorting and questioning knowledge to aid analysis and application skills
Red - Linking their knowledge to other knowledge, or using it to create encouraging flexible thinking
