LO: To be able to use evidence in order to build an argument as to who was to blame for the murder of Thomas Becket.

  • PPT provided with clues (sources) to explore how Henry II, the knights or Becket himself may have been to blame leading to the formation of a detailed source analysis/ essay.
  • Reading task to provide contextual information leading up to the murder with questions provided.
  • Classwork with guided source tasks including the anlysis of primary sources
  • Table for source analysis with key questions such as: provenance of the sources, message of the source and use of key quotes.
  • Use of primary sources and first hand accounts exploring the narrative of the murder of Becket
