LO: To be able to use evidence in order to build an argument as to who was to blame for the murder of Thomas Becket. PPT provided with clues (sources) to explore how Henry II, the knights or Becket himself may have been to blame leading to the formation of a detailed source analysis/ essay. Reading task to provide contextual information leading up to the murder with questions provided. Classwork with guided source tasks including the anlysis of primary sources Table for source analysis with key questions such as: provenance of the sources, message of the source and use of key quotes. Use of primary sources and first hand accounts exploring the narrative of the murder of Becket Use of contextual factors such as the role of the medieval church vs state in building motive Exploration of the skills of describing, explaining and analysing through group tasks and independent application
