This is the third topic in the sequence of the KS3 curriculum on offer. The content has been carefully planned to make sure the sequence of knowledge is taught in the best way for learners to build on their previous knowledge.

Retrieval has been included at the start of every lesson which covers the knowledge from the first topic, this ensures that long term schema are formed.

The knowledge has been chunked to ensure working memory is never overloaded and learning is regularly checked with a series of hinge questions designed to be done on mini white boards after every learning point.

Modeling and scaffolding are built in to ensure students are equipped with the procedural knowledge required to succeed. They are then given the opportunity to practice what they have learned independently.

Each topic will come with a standard booklet and SEN booklet which has the same tasks and content but slightly differentiated so every student is able to take part in the learning. At certain points in every topic there are formative assessment points which are accompanied by formative feedback sheets which include model answers to the activities and separate activities for students to practice and correct their common mistakes or misconceptions.

Lesson 3 is a fieldwork lesson and will need to be adapted to suit the location of your study. The slides are complete and this will be a matter of changing maps and location names.
