In this detailed lesson, pupils will learn to:
• Apply translations to trigonometric graphs in the x- and y-directions
• Apply stretches parallel to the x- and y-axes
• Apply reflections in the x- and y-axes
• Identify transformations from equations and graphs
• Determine how key points, asymptotes and other features change under transformations
• Sketch and interpret transformed sine, cosine and tangent graphs
• Combine transformations to produce more challenging trigonometric graphs
• Use their understanding of transformations to solve problems involving trigonometric graphs
The lesson develops pupils’ fluency in working with transformed trigonometric functions and provides a foundation for more advanced GCSE Higher Tier work involving trigonometric equations and graphs.
Note this lesson is for the higher tier.

The lesson includes:
• Clear, guided examples
• Discussion opportunities from Think, Pair, Share
• Mini whiteboard section to check understanding and clarify misconceptions
• Three structured tasks to practise key skills
• Challenge activity to extend and deepen learning
• Printable sheets at the end of the PowerPoint so pupils can easily copy examples and complete the tasks

Perfect for engaging learners while reinforcing essential geometry concepts.
