This lesson pack develops key National Identity knowledge for Year 5 / Grade 4 students, building on the foundations introduced in earlier years. It supports learners in understanding UAE leadership, heritage, geography, governance, and the country’s journey toward unity. The resource has been used successfully to help a school achieve full marks in the ADEK National Identity inspection, and other year-group packs are available. Each year level expands on the content taught previously, allowing for a clear and consistent progression pathway.
Students study Sheikh Zayed, the President, the Crown Prince, and the Sheikhs of all seven emirates. They learn the UAE flag meanings, the national emblem, and the origins of the Emirates’ names. Geography content includes latitude and longitude, UAE terrain types, mountains such as Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet, and oases like Liwa and Al Ain.
Learners explore National Holidays, the story of the 1971 Federation, and the values promoted by Sheikh Zayed’s legacy, including unity, conservation, compassion, and development. The resource also introduces the principles of the federal system and the difference between local and national responsibilities.
Activities include mapping tasks, close exercises, family tree work, tracing Arabic words, story writing, and colour-coding activities, making the lessons accessible and engaging for primary students.
This pack leads smoothly into the deeper content delivered in the Year 6 / Grade 5 set.
