This SIX lesson resource is ideal for AS students revisiting content and building in A2 theories or for students studying it for the first time in A2. This lesson is student centered and focuses on Contexts, Representation and Media Language. Each section is blocked into these sections and has extensive reference to the framework theorists. The key focus with this resource is to put the learning into students hands (discovery and independent learning). It is the complete unit and leads nicely into the ‘Riptide’ unit.

NOTE: All task sheets/slides, differentiated resources and audio/visual stimuli are included within the lesson/ Power Point. This resource also includes a Mastery pack with an exemplar 30 mark response written by me on the following question:

Representation

  1. Compare the ideologies conveyed through the representations in this television advertisement and the music video you have studied.
    In your answer, you must:

• Consider how representations convey ideologies

• Consider the similarities and differences in the ideologies conveyed

• Make judgements and draw conclusions about how far social and cultural contexts affect the representations. [30]

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at a AS/A2 Two- Year Course. If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
