Validity – Complete Lesson (Interactive) + Student Handout
AQA Psychology Research Methods | Fully Animated | Includes Real Exam Questions and Model Answers| No Prep Required

This resource is divided into 4 parts:
1. Understanding Validity and the different types – External, internal, ecological, temporal and population. Each type comes with a high- and low-validity example, plus the ecological validity vs mundane realism distinction.
2. Ways of Assessing Validity – face and concurrent
3. Ways of Improving Validity – practical fixes for experiments, questionnaires, interviews and observations (plus a “validity vs reliability” summary so students stop mixing the two up)
**4. Exam Questions **(3 from AQA past papers and 1 exam-style question)

**Lesson duration: **Approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, depending on class pace.
Timed tasks are built into the slides (1–5 minutes each) and the four parts give natural break points if you’d rather split it over two shorter lessons.

What’s Included:
• DO NOW - Starter Activity
Quick recap tasks help activate prior knowledge before introducing new concepts.

• 52-Slide Fully Animated PowerPoint
Every key point and example appears one click at a time, guiding students through complex ideas at an accessible pace. Teacher-led animations allow you to pause, question and discuss before each reveal. Includes think-pair-share prompts, timed application tasks and worked answers linked to studies students already know from Memory and Social Influence. Fully editable, so you can adapt it to your class.

• Printable Student Handout (9 pages)
Mirrors the slides in a “fill-in-the-blank” format. Students only need to copy the bolded key words from the slides to complete the gaps, rather than copying out full notes. This frees up lesson time for engaging with the content and practice exam questions, while the handout serves as high-quality notes that can be used for later revision. It also has lined answer spaces for the exam questions and boxes for students to record their own study examples. The gap-fill format supports lower-literacy, EAL and SEND students who struggle to copy notes at speed. Editable Word document.

• Exam Question Practice
4 AQA past-paper questions with model answers (3, 4, 3 and 8 marks respectively). Last question is a challenge/extend for high ability students. Model answers are written out in full so students can see exactly how to structure a top-mark answer and can be revealed after students have had a go, for self- or peer-marking.

• Exam Tips & Mark Allocation Guidance
Breaks down how validity is typically examined (mark ranges, most commonly tested concepts and most common mistakes examiners report)

• Part of my AQA A-Level Research Methods series
