Van Gogh Vases Lessons

KS3 Art lessons on Van Gogh’s Flower vases

3 lesson tasks included:

Lesson 1 - Students will be introduced to Van Gogh’s artworks on flowers and create an artist copy using colour pencils. Could be used for an art cover lesson.

Lesson 2 - Create a zoomed in close up section study of an artwork using oil pastels. Pupils work collaboratively (4 students create a close up section for each artwork).

Lesson 3 - Students will create a zoomed in study of an iris flower. Optional techniques to focus on: Pen or pencil mark making, Watercolour, Oil pastel or Acrylic painting (colour blending, layering)

Additional ideas: Include tasks to build learning on colour theory, art analysis or natural forms observations.

HW ideas: Art analysis on one of Van Gogh’s artworks or create close up photographs of flowers
