
This resource is a KS1 reading comprehension pack based on the theme “Vehicles”.
It is designed to help young learners practise early comprehension skills while exploring different types of vehicles they see in everyday life.
What’s included:
- A zip file with 20 PDF reading comprehension sheets.
- Each sheet contains:
- A simple text written in KS1-friendly language.
- An image of the vehicle.
- Three comprehension questions about the text.
Key words such as what, where, why are in bold to support children’s understanding.
Sheets are in A5 format (supplied as A4 pages ready to print and cut into two identical activities).
Categories covered:
- Land Vehicles – bicycles, buses, cars, motorbikes, taxis, trams
- Emergency Vehicles – ambulances, fire engines, helicopters, police cars
- Air Vehicles – aeroplanes, rockets
- Water Vehicles – boats, ferries
- Work Vehicles – tractors, lorries, trains, bulldozers, dumper trucks, post vans
Note: Categories are not exclusive. Some vehicles could appear in more than one group (e.g. helicopters fit both air and emergency vehicles, and taxis are land
vehicles but also work vehicles).
