Want to find a fun, cross-curricular way to teach mass? This lesson fuses together the measurement of mass, learning about the food and diet of the Vikings… and cooking!
After an input that includes how to read mass (grams and kilograms) using scales, the children are introduced to information about the Viking diet and their cooking habits.
Following this, the children are encouraged to work together to peel, chop and weigh different ingredients to be put into a class ‘Viking Stew’ that can be enjoyed at the end of the lesson.
A fantastic consolidation of measuring using mass and links to using Maths in real-life situations, which works particularly well if also studying the Vikings!
