Why do people live near volcanoes? - KS2

This lesson is designed for KS2 children. It can be taught as a stand alone lesson but is also available as part a unit called Volcanoes which is available on TES.

First the presentation looks at Mount Etna and Mount Vesuvius in Italy and asks why people choose to live so close to volcanoes. The activity then challenges children to sort statements and photos into advantages and disadvantages of living near a volcano.

If desired, the activity could also be used as a cross-curricula Literacy writing lesson so there are also stickers and a vocabulary prompt provided.
