This Year 7 RE lesson explores how key Jewish stories reveal the nature of God and shape Jewish belief and identity. Through storytelling, discussion and structured analysis, pupils examine the themes of covenant, holiness and justice, gaining insight into how Jews understand their relationship with God.
Learners begin by exploring the concept of a Covenant, the sacred promise between God and the Jewish people, before studying the story of Abraham and the Stars to understand God’s faithfulness and long‑term commitment. They then examine God’s holiness through the dramatic encounter of Moses and the Burning Bush, discussing what this story teaches about God’s presence and purity. Finally, pupils analyse the Exodus story, focusing on how God’s justice is shown through liberation, protection and moral authority.
A PPT and worksheet are included, supporting explanation, interpretation and evaluative thinking.
