Here is the next upload in my REAL LIFE maths planning helping children to understand the use and relevance of maths in the real world beyond their classroom. This is a one week project for either year 4 alone or a year 4/5 class. I ran this project alongside the INSPIRE maths scheme and National Curriculum with practice book and textbook 4B to make it a more exciting topic. For lower abilities you can provide a shape such as a hexagon which already definitely tessellates whereas for Mastery try to get children to combine polygon to create a complex shape that will tessellate. Learning Objectives from the year 4 and year 5 checklist, and a printable Brief for the children are provided!
