Transport your Year 5 class to the edge of the solar system with this fully immersive, “no-prep” maths escape room. Designed to challenge mathematical fluency, logical reasoning, and teamwork, this resource puts students in charge of saving a drifting space station.

The Mission

Students work in engineering teams to solve 10 “Stellar Riddles” located in different sectors of Centauri Station—from the Fuel Bay to the Solar Sails. Each riddle provides one digit of a 10-digit override code needed to reboot the gravity core via the included “Centauri Core Terminal” digital slide.

What’s Included?

Immersive PowerPoint Presentation: 14 high-quality, cinematic slides featuring the mission briefing, a 45-minute automated timer, and a final “Core Terminal” for code entry.

Pupil Worksheet Pack: A 10-lock workbook where teams record their calculations and track their code digits.

Gravity Key Record Sheet: A handy one-pager for teams to log their final 10-digit sequence.

Self-Assessment & Reflection: A plenary tool for students to reflect on the difficulty of different mathematical topics.

Full Teacher Answer Key: Includes all calculations and the final master code.

National Curriculum Mapping (Year 5)

This escape room covers a broad range of upper Key Stage 2 objectives:

Storage Bay: Addition & Subtraction (Large Numbers up to 5 digits)

External Sensors: Rounding & Place Value (to the nearest 10,000)

Air-Lock: Area of Rectilinear/L-shapes

Kitchen: Multi-step Multiplication & Addition

Life Support: Fractions of Amounts (e.g., 1/3 and 1/4 of 600)

Satellite Dish: Time Intervals & 24-hour Clock

Supply Shop: Money & Decimals (Calculation and Change)

Fuel Bay: Mass & Unit Conversion (g to kg)

Escape Bay: Short Division with Remainders

Solar Sail: Perimeter Reasoning

Why Teachers Love This:

Zero Prep: Just print the booklets and play the PowerPoint. No physical locks or boxes required!

High Engagement: The cinematic visuals and ticking clock create a high-energy environment that motivates even reluctant mathematicians.

Flexible: Perfect for a termly review, a post-SATs treat, or a “Space” cross-curricular hook.

The countdown is running. Can your Astro-Engineers save Centauri Station?
